The Intelligent Investor

The Intelligent Investor

Often called the "Bible of value investing," Graham gives key strategies for protecting investors from serious error and teaching them how to achieve reasonable returns. The core principles introduced include the concept of the "margin of safety" (buying assets for in a meaningful way less than their intrinsic value) and the allegory of "Mr. Market" (viewing the stock market as a volatile partner whose mood should be ignored).

Short Review

This book is the foundational text for modern investment strategy. While the specific examples of companies and technical metrics are dated, the psychological and philosophical discipline remains timeless. Graham successfully divorces investing from speculation, demanding analytical rigor and emotional stability from the reader. Its principles - centered on treating stocks as pieces of a business - are universally credited by the world's best investors, including Warren Buffett, as the keys to long-term success.
